Buško Lake is situated at an altitude of 700 meters and has an area of 55.8 km².
Geographically, the lake is located at the intersection of Bosnia, Dalmatia, and Herzegovina.
Two-thirds of the lake belong to the municipality of Tomislavgrad, while one-third belongs
to the municipality of Livno.
With its surface area, the lake is one of the largest reservoirs/artificial lakes in Europe. It
was created by flooding Buško Blato in the 1970s.
In the summer months, the lake’s water is exceptionally warm and pleasant for swimming.
One of the most famous beaches of Buško Lake is the sandy beach Marinovac, which is just a
few minutes’ drive from Eco Village Grabovica. It is ideal for water sports as well as outdoor
sports.
The hills and mountains surrounding the lake are suitable for hiking and resting in
mountain lodges.
In addition to the above, the lake is very attractive for fishing. Buško Lake is home to
endemic fish species such as Dalmatian barbelgudgeon, minnow-nase, and chub. It is also
widely known for having Wels catfish as the main predator, with some caught specimens
weighing over 50 kg.
